Virginia C. Chandley, 83, formerly of Meadville and a resident of Naples, FL died at home surrounded by her family Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
She was born June 21, 1937 in Erie a daughter of the late Ralph and Laura Holbrook Conner.
She was a graduate of McDowell High School in Erie and attended Allegheny College leaving to marry William O. Chandley, Jr. on August 30, 1958 and he survives. They lived for two years in Metz, France while Bill was in the service.
They lived in Meadville for 46 years and enjoyed spending summers on Chautauqua Lake. She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for 37 years. She also was elected and served as an Elder, on several committees within the church and the Lake Erie Presbytery, co-chairing the Women’s Group and as Moderator of the Presbytery. She was a long-time member and Past President of the Meadville Woman’s Club and the Medical Center Auxiliary and served for 2 years on the MMC Board. She also chaired or co-chaired four MMC Charity Follies. She also helped with her children’s activities, working with Meadville Bulldog Hockey, the Meadville High School Marching Band and the Meadville swim programs. She retired from Advantage Dealer Service, in 2014, as President of a company she and Bill started together.
Survivors, in addition to her husband Bill of 62 years, include: three sons, Jeff Chandley of Ft. Myers, FL; Greg Chandley and his wife Serena and their two sons, Cooper and Dylan of Chico, CA and Mark Chandley and his wife Bridgett and their daughter, Harper of Naples, FL; a brother, William L. Conner and his wife Helen of Naples, FL and three nieces.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 23 at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville, with Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen officiating.
