John E. Woge, 89, of Meadville, passed away, Monday, June 13, 2022 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born February 8, 1933 in Meadville, a son of Rudy and Maxine Jannot Woge. He married Joyce Irene Sexton December 19, 1952 and she preceded him in death November 18, 2021.
John was a graduate of Meadville High School. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked as an over the road truck driver, retiring from Dad’s Products in 1994. Following retirement, he and Joyce enjoyed wintering in Florida.
John was a member of St. Mark’s Church. He was also a member of the American Truck Historical Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed restoring classic trucks and garden tractors.
Survivors include a son, John D. Woge (Tina) of Meadville; a son-in-law, John R. Leasure, Sr. of Conneaut Lake; five grandchildren, John R. Leasure, Jr., Amber Leasure, Adam Woge, Mark Woge (Lisa), and Kristen Slingluff (Adam); and four great-granddaughters, Madelynn, Maren, Kinsley, and Ila.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Lee Leasure.
Calling hour will be Thursday, June 16th from 10-11 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Marshall Lillie officiating.
Interment will be in Venango Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 2006.
